Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 6 "Pathétique"
Very good, thank you.
Where's the passion?
This reading left me with a somewhat distanced, cold reaction. It's very efficient, clean and superbly played, but where's the raw emotion, angst and passion? This is a symphony of death, after all. To hear what's missing, try - for example - the Philharmonia/Kletzki, Leningrad/Mravinsky or LSO/Markevitch readings. You'll feel it at once... Decent sound, although the bass drum disappears in #3.
