Shostakovich: Execution Of Stepan Razin & Symphony No. 9 - Kirill Kondrashin Conducts the Moscow Philharmonic
What a joy to be able to listen to Shostakovich conducted by Kondrashin in good conditions

Calling all audiophiles.
About two decades ago I developed a growing appreciation of Shostakovitch's music . However I had not heard of this rarely recorded cantata.........so I ordered it from HDTT after hearing the samples and played it in full last night for the first time I was mighty impressed or blown away if you like it was marvelous ! The music was great and HDTT transfer nothing short of fabulous ! Every audiophile should have this in the library. The brass was so real and the bells towards the end...........WOW that's all I can say If you got good equipment you must have this recording ! Cannot recommend it highly enough !
Stepan Razin
Superb recording of Kondrashin. I have known this recording for many years, which is good by normal Melodiya standards, but never like this. Beautifully clear and atmospheric. If only HDTT could produce more Kondrashin Shostakovich. Would love to hear the eighth symphony in particular, the recording quality of which has always been rather poor whereas the performance is, IMHO, one of the very best. Ditto 4, 11, 13 and 14.
Essential Shostakovich by Kondrashin.
I'm stunned by the resolution of this '60s Soviet recording. It's a revelation and I can't wait to try more offerings. Highly recommended.
