Munch, Piatigorsky: Don Quixote (mono 1953) - Till Eulenspiegels
After a few seconds, you don’t care it’s a mono recording. The sound is clear and powerful. The instruments are clearly detailed and the sound of the cello is surprising. You feel a constant tension and passion. Powerful, poetic and hallucinated scenes are rendered magnificently by the players and the recording. Till Eulenspiegels (1962): a great stereo recording. You feel immersed in the powerful orchestra; the sound is full of vivid details.
Strauss Till Eulenspiel & Don Quixote Munch/BSO
An excellent remastering, as always, but I have better performances of the actual music.
