Five Stars for Sound. Three for Content.
Magnificent sound, but not what I would consider a classic album by either artist’s standards.
What Jazz Is
This such an enjoyable recording of Jazz. What Jazz is, impromptu, and unique. This album between these two masters is great, (lest we forget all the artist on this disc) and the recording sounds like it was just made!
Wonderful recording of a great Combo
I love the combo of the sound of Sonny Stitt and Bennie and this recording is just marvelous.
Mighty Fine My Main Man
A mighty fine jazz record here. An unusual line up but one that blends well performing greater than the sum of its parts. Lyrical unison and solo playing from Stitt and Green underpinned by an unusual rhythm section of Buster's organ and Anderson's drums. Lovely fills and solos from Dorio's guitar enable this music to swing. There appears to be an unnamed bass player here?- perhaps its just the staccato stabs of Buster's organ creating a bass like sound? Buy this music you will enjoy it a lot…
Excellent
Another superb recording by the HDT folks.
