Mahler Symphony No. 1 - Solti, London Symphony Orchestra - DSD64
Compared with the Decca CD, HDTT's transfer is cleaner, clearer, more dynamic and has stronger impact. Both the performance and the sound are even better than Solti's later Chicago digital recording. Highly recommended.
Solti's Mahler 1st
Solti's first recording of Mahler's 1st with the LSO has been a favorite for decades, there's a level of focus and concentration that he didn't quite manage in his second performance with Chicago. The sound that the Decca engineers captured was good to begin with, and here sounds more vivid and impactful than the redbook CD. This should be in everyone's Mahler collection.
