I love this record.

I love this record. I have the Audio Fidelity LP pressed in Holland. My LP sounds fantastic. It is one of those LPs that "once you pop, you cannot stop". The DSD128 I have just bought here is very different as tonality, darker, the bass is more present, the trumpets and the voices are less aggressive, much more intimate, but it is not missing clarity. I do not know whether it is due to the aging tapes, different electronics, or what else, and I cannot judge which is truer to the source, however I still prefer the LP when played on my system. The soundstage is equally good between the LP and the DSD, in both cases you can exactly pinpoint where the instruments are in the 3D space. Louie sings right 2 meters in front of you, spookie! This DSD128 represents a great added value, in terms of historical preservation for the future generations and my deepest gratitude goes to Bob Witrak for doing this excellent job and making it available to us with such a convenience. Bonus points also for the Cover Art and Liner Notes for the Jewel Box. My system: Marantz TT-15S1, PM-KI Ruby, SA-KI Ruby.

louie armstrong playing with my great uncle

As a big fan of DSD music, Jazz, and music played by Rich Matteson (my great uncle), I had wished to find this album in this format. I bought the lp version and the three cd complete louis armstrong and the dukes of dixieland. Both have their good points but when I purchased this release in DSD128, it was a revelation. It has the depth of sound of vinyl and the lack of surface noise of the cd version. I can finally hear great uncle Rich play his helicon with complete detail. This is a dream come true.
