Athletic Haydn in Superb Analog-Original Sound
Klemperer's masterfully voiced, gutsy Haydn comes up sounding better than ever in these HDTT transfers from 15 ips commercial tapes. I bought this -- and HDTT's companion Klemperer set of symphonies 88 and 98 -- in the Gold CD format and immediately noticed how superior they are to EMI's commercially-produced CDs. Once again HDTT's use of commercial tapes for its transfers means that you just get more of that 'golden glow' analog ambience that's so necessary to hearing classic recordings in their original splendor. And under Klemperer's direction you hear every element in Haydn's gloriously life-affirming symphonies presented in superb balance. First-rate, all 'round!
