Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique - Charles Munch BSO 1962 Recording
Dies ist und bleibt die Referenzaufnahme von Berlioz` Meisterwerk. Die Interpretation und der grandiose Klang dieser Aufnahme bleiben bis heute, trotz der Vielzahl an Einspielungen, bis heute unerreicht. Unbedingt empfehlenswert !

One of the best
The Symphonie Fantastique is one of my favourite orchestral works. As a result, I have multiple recordings, Beecham, Davis, Gardiner, to name a few. The Munch is up there with the best and the transfer is top notch too. I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to it and recommend it wholeheartedly.

Extraordinary Recording
This is an amazingly good recording of extraordinary orchestral music played magnificently. I don’t think I’ve heard a better recording of an orchestra. Textures are clear top to bottom. The detail of the percussion is wonderful—no blurring of different types of drum strikes. The edge and bite of the brass is sometimes breathtaking. The transient response often shocks: for instance the bell strikes in the witch’s sabbath. This recording is a treasure.

A real stunner!
I've listened to the 192KHz redux version. The improvement in transient detail is astonishing, resulting in dramatically improved clarity and dynamics, and surprising improvements in imaging. Everything the BSO does is clearly evident, making it clearer than ever what a remarkable performance this is. Percussion transients are breath taking. I'll get the DXD version now that I know what a sonic treasure this is.
