Great performances in compromised sound
These are great wartime performances of both symphonies in the Furtwangler wartime manner, which is to say alternating majestic, lyrical and manic, and always emotionally intense. These are live performances recorded with 360 degree microphones, so we get great hall ambience for a mono recording but also get all the coughs, rustling, etc., which can make listening hard for some. The original tapes for these were made by German broadcasting from the music being streamed across telephone lines to the radio tower, where live performances were transmitted. The surviving tapes were in bad shape. I have three different versions of these recordings -- DG, which has no discernible processing, Pristine Classics, and Furtwangler Sound. For me, Furtwangler sound is the best.
Okay
Qualité du son et les.bruits de l'audience rendre difficile d'écoute. Malgré tout aime bien l'interprétation.
