Superb transfer of two great recordings
The transfer of these two great recordings featuring the dynamic partnership of Fleisher and Szell is superbly and expertly done, achieving impressive clarity, presence, vividness and details that simply leave the CBS CDs I bought years ago in the dust. A must buy for those who enjoy this repertoire.
Outstanding new transfer
The DSD128 version of the Szell/Fleisher Beethoven Piano Concerto #4 is the best I've ever heard, and by a pretty wide margin. The detail, presence and overall impact blow away that of the Sony CD version from the early 90's, which I used to own. It's hard to imagine a better sounding transfer than what we have here. The Mozart concerto is also an outstanding transfer and performance, but the main attraction here for me is the Beethoven. I don't think anyone, especially those familiar with these performances, will be disappointed.
Beautiful sounds.
Sounds good.I love it.
Beautiful communication
Beautiful music beautifully interpreted by self-confident players: Szell, Fleisher, and the CO. It’s not a matter of the pianist’s splendid technique, the orchestra’s precision or Szell's uncompromising guidance, its about communication and strong reciprocal rapport. These particular recordings are dynamic, powerfully articulated yet always incredibly sublime - and the fine recording allows you to catch both brilliance and gentleness of the performances.
Another smashing transfer!
Szell/Fleisher/Cleveland in Beethoven and Mozart. It doesn't get better than this, for the lover of classic recordings from the golden age. The transfers are up to the usual superb standard. Enough said. Grab it.
