Beauty in Music in 21st Century Houston

Greetings music lovers and HDTT followers, This is Franz Krager, music director and conductor for much of the music on this new HDTT release, Beauty in Music in the 21st Century. The great music that we love and cherish today was all new, at one time. Every piece ever written has had a first public hearing, followed by father time acting as the determiner as to whether the new work is destined to become a part of the canon. I have always supported the idea that the creation of new music is an absolute must, if the universal musical canon is to expand and grow. It is in this spirit of imagination that I introduce to you, Beauty in Music in the 21st Century, a new release that I am very proud of. Music and art are indeed personal expressions, and collaborating artists who also happen to be friends too can result in recordings that supersede expectations. Three of the four composers here are close friends of mine as well as four of the soloists, and the love, respect and understanding between all of us makes an apparent impact on these recordings. Both orchestras are also under my direction, all year, and the working relationships that I share with these musicians also make for recordings that go well beyond the expectation. So, I invite you to listen to these seven works and to decide for yourself whether any of them could find their way into the canon a hundred years from now. This recording project has been a joy for me, and I hope that you will appreciate this diverse and interesting Beauty in Music.
Franz Anton Krager

"One of the great pleasures and satisfaction of working with a first-rank University-based Symphony Orchestra is the chance to hear - and record for the enjoyment of the greater public - performances of new, unfamiliar, and attractive classical music. Each season, the Moores School Symphony Orchestra at the University of Houston does just that, in addition to the standard favorites of Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms, etc. So, we've gathered several stand-out new pieces that music director Franz Krager and I think you'll enjoy. "Beauty in Music, Vol. 1" is the first such HDTT release, but certainly not the last."
