Great Bill Evans recording
Awesome recording. I downloaded the DXD to stream via my Lumin A1. I think this is at least as good and maybe better as a recording than my MFSL One Step of Bill Evans trio Sunday at the Village Vanguard which I also ripped to DXD via the RME ADI-2 Pro
This recording is an excellent transfer. I was very impressed with the detail from this live recording. Puts many modern recordings to shame. Just like being at the venue!
One of the MOST DYNAMIC live recordings I have ever heard ....
And ... it’s Bill Evans, so what’s not to like! But, in all seriousness, you are LITERALLY transported back in time to May 1963 and you are there at the club. The soundstage, separation, clarity, and vividness of the instruments are phenomenal. I wish I knew what microphones and recorder were used. It sounds like it was recorded yesterday, not back in 1963. However, it gets better: I played this for a good friend of mine (who is in his early 80’s). He’s a real Bill Evans aficionado. It turns out HE WAS AT THE GIG at the Manne-Hole on May 14, 1963, when some of this was originally recorded. It brought tears to his eyes as he listened! Classic Bill Evans. Just buy it. You won’t be sorry!
Bill Evans Trio
Sound quality are magnificent and love it so much.
New level of presence
Anyone who is a fan of Bill Evans, or jazz in general, should give this a try. The sound is top notch and performance always great Evans. You will feel like you’re back in time with the lounge club atmosphere that this recording gives.
