Superb
I'm quite happy with the sound of this recording, and the playing is fantastic.
Ross and Sherman do Bach proud
If you love the Bach solo violin music – and what classical music fan doesn't? – this one ought to go on your Christmas list. If you can wait that long! I had never heard of Michelle Ross till now – my bad – but she has completely won me over with this performance of Bach's solo violin partitas and sonatas. Clearly, she can play in the same league with the greats (Milstein, Szeryng, et al). I'm confident she will in time ascend to the top of the Olympus they occupy, and as for now, she's so close it hardly matters. What does matter is that in this splendid 24/96 sound by the famous recording engineer Judith Sherman of Nonesuch fame, she’s given us a recording to treasure. Someday you'll tell your grandkids, 'I knew her when,' and in the meantime you'll have this audiophile treasure to enjoy. Late at night when you want something intelligent, intimate and soulful, you'll have this to listen to. A great headphone experience too BTW. PS I had no trouble downloading or unzipping the file. It all went as smoothly as per normal on HDTT.
