Captured during the dawn of stereophonic sound in May 1956 at Geneva’s Victoria Hall, this landmark release pairs Igor Stravinsky’s neoclassical Pulcinella Suite with the exotic, shimmering soundscapes of The Song of the Nightingale. Conducted by Ernest Ansermet at the absolute height of his interpretive powers with his peerless Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, these performances showcase unmatched authority over Stravinsky’s repertoire.
Leveraging Decca's pioneering stereo engineering, this edition captures a distinct warmth, harmonic richness, and vocal weight. Meticulously transferred and restored by HDTT, the release brings out the brilliant colorations, transparent counterpoint, and mechanistic sheen of these mid-century masterworks.

Components used for Transfer:
This transfer leverages precision analogue playback and mastering-grade digital conversion. The signal path begins with a modified Nagra 4SJ, fed through a Merrill Audio Master MX Tape Head Preamp for accurate NAB equalisation. The analogue signal is converted via a Merging Hapi converter, powered by a Teddy Pardo dedicated linear power supply synchronised to an Antelope Audio 10MX atomic clock for temporal accuracy. All components receive isolated power conditioning through a Shunyata Research Everest 8000 with Shunyata Sigma-X power cords, while grounding infrastructure utilises Shunyata ALTAIRA hubs to minimise noise floor and preserve sonic detail throughout the transfer chain.
