Victory at Sea tape transfer.
General audio quality is quite good, but speed stability is a problem: There is “wow” that is not present on the RCA commercial open-reel tapes nor on the RCA LPs.

Victory!
This was a 'nostalgia' purchase for me. Rogers' music is relatively simple, but with majestic basic tunes with predictable development. That's not to say it's bad, rising to the inspiring in several places. After all, it was written for a television series with 30 min. episodes, so the music was often used in small segments as background for a scene. That said, I really enjoyed reviving memories of watching Victory At Sea with my dad on Sunday afternoons. He was a Marine and had served in the South Pacific during WWII. His comments added a special dimension to the program for me. The sound quality is excellent. Those early RCA stereo recordings were WAY better than you might expect, and HDTT has done a great job with the transfer.

Still On Repeat
I certainly remember the cover art from many years back but never actually had this album until now. It was not long after I downloaded the files that I placed many of these tracks into my primary playlist and a subset of these have been on repeat play ever since.

Exceptional sonic presentation of a great one
The TV show Victory at Sea is one of my fondest memories of growing up in the fifties. I also recall the Richard Rogers score very fondly. It was part of my musical education. Thank you, HDTT for this audiophile-grade remastering. I can't think of anything at all about the sound to quibble over. Enthusiastically recommended!

Rich, Detailed Restoration
Demonstration sonics here in a highly romanticized score, a landmark for a television special. This is a wonderful disc, even if the subject of the music brings many mixed feelings.
