Another level of sonic depth with the 24/352.8
This has always been a great album no matter the medium. I've owned the MFSL Gold since day one. After seeing this available in 24/352.8!?!?!? I HAD to give it a go. Wooooooooooooo. So lush and sweet and the air is moving around the room........a must buy.

Introspective Muddy Waters
When we think of Muddy Waters, we think of hard-driving, macho-strutting songs like “Got My Mojo Workin’” or “Hootchie-Cootchie Msn,” backed by electric powerhouse guitar and sometimes the amplified harmonica of the short-lived Little Walter. But this is something else, acoustic and very intimate. The vocal phrasing is elastic, moving freely away from the beat and coming back to it. Muddy is shouting at some points, almost inaudibly whispering at others. Sometimes the words dissolve into a wordless moan. His guitar playing, as is that of Buddy Guy, is less flashy (though try to duplicate it and you realize how quietly virtuosic it is, always completely idiomatic and in service to the voice). It’s the sound of a man alone with his grief at some hour past midnight. Short measure at 35 minutes, but profoundly moving and indispensable if you love the blues.

Spookily real...
Spookily real. That's the first thought that came to me as the music started playing. I've always loved this album. Chess Records captured Muddy Water's voice and guitar with great immediacy back in 1962. HDTT has captured all of that goodness, but without any hint of surface or groove noise. The results are immensely impressive—musically and sonically compelling. If anything, I'm liking this HDTT DSD256 release as much or more as I can ever recall enjoying this album.
