Exceptional !!
This recording is exceptional in both sound quality and interpretation. The sound is lush and mellow, with plenty of details and dynamic. This performance gives me new understanding of Bruno Walter and the symphony. Great recording!
Quite good

Dvorak New World - 5 stars
Not only sonically superb...but this recording from the LA American Legion Hall in 1959 illustrates the high expectation of the post war generation had for classical music. The WW2 generation had high musical expectations, they marched as soldiers in fields and danced together in halls...they understood beat...and legions of American classical musicians who never went to Ivy League schools could out play any music professor today...the music audience of this generation was well attuned to cadence, and that is the Mojo you hear in this music...every beat in step. An absolutely beautiful recording...slight tape hiss, but who cares. Today they can record in Direct DSD, but the music nerds of today who never spent a day in military service could never produce a production of this quality. This is recording is a MUST BUY.
Beautiful Mastering of a Gem
I've had issues with some of HDTT's masterings but this one is excellent. Extremely clear sound especially considering the age of the tape. Anyone who likes Dvorak should really pick this one up. I'm listening to the 24/352.8 DXD version and it very nice. Bruno Walter's interpretation of the 9th is a little on the warm side so if you like your 9th over the top, this might not be for you. However, this is not sickly sweet. I think Mr. Walter managed to balance the warmth with the dynamics that this symphony requires.
