This was my first purchase from HDTT, and I am very pleased with the sound. The 24/192 format is smooth and refined and retains a warmth from the tapes.
Bach: Brandenburg Concertos no 1-6 - Vienna Concentus Musicus - Harnoncourt
This is a delightfully fresh and modern sounding recording even though it was recorded in 1964. The performance is delicate and elegant but also drives along forcefully when required. The sound is even and balanced but there is a slight bite in the treble occasionally, not sufficient to spoil the overall performance. The orchestra is nicely spread across the speakers and the instruments sound natural within the overall space but also dynamic and punchy. I found this recording to be highly enjoyable and the musical equal of the five other recordings in my collection. HD sound is the icing on the cake.
Even though the recording was remastered, the sound of the instruments is great. I had to order a BeyerDynamic headphone to better hear the Hi/Def of the recording and that also improved the sound. I am quite happy with this recording.
The 192 kHz version gives absolutely superb sound. Highly recommended!
The same files sounded troublesome or marvellous using two different softwares in OS X. Anyway, as I am so lucky to have a copy of the vintage LP album from Teldec, I can confirm that this transfert is truly high quality.
