Super!!
These Reiner recordings are breathtaking for dynamics and detail. I'm quite happy with my purchase.

sorry, does not come near to the RCA Red Seal
Sorry to say this, but since I own the older RCA Red Seal 0.5 track no. 7. Bydlo is a musical reference of my life (as a music listener + freak, not as an so called expert) because it is the only track in music I know which brings my heart in real trouble because this peace of music sounds so black, dark and heartbeatening ... for me a kind of incarnation of the "russian soul" ... a recording, almost perfect and now more than 60 years old, wow!!! ... but nothing to hear from this in the HDTT, for me a dissapointing thing ... it is a "normal" thing, but not near to the RCA version (in my very own opinion) ... Some week ago I bought the phantastic Fricsay Beehoven's 9th ... so I know you can do it, this an outstanding recording, enjoying it very, very, much, thank you for that ... but this one lacks of the "special moment" ... I don't know what happened to this oustanding Fritz Reiner performance @ HDTT, because I know, it is an outstanding perfomance.

Reiner Pictures at an Exhibition
I already have the SACD of this. Hdtt have done a nice job on this. Comparing the two, the Hdtt is a touch warmer than the SACD, which sounds a wee bit leaner, but a little more transparent, which it should be as it would from the original master. Another review said the tape blew away the SACD. Depends how good the player that played it I guess! In saying that, the softer warmer Hdtt presentation is slightly more relaxed to listen too. Very good indeed. And of course the performance is excellent.
First Love
This is the version I first heard and loved as a youth. In my mind, it remains one of the definitive renditions. Conversion was performed flawlessly by HDTT. And ohhh the joys of acetate over vynal. High speed tape is sublime and remains supreme, imho.
Truly excellent Reiner 'Pictures'
Of course the Reiner CSO 'Pictures' is very likely >the< great recording of this work. In outstanding RCA Layton/Mohr sound, the LP commands more than a cult following (maybe an entire religion!). I've heard it quite a few times myself at the homes of vinyl-loving friends. I haven't heard the vinyl version in years, but I can tell you that this one in HDTT's DXD offers absolutely fabulous sonics. I can also vouch that it utterly blows away the RCA Red Seal SACD, which sounds very good in its own right. Have to say though how hard it is for me to stop listening to this. It's just plain audiophile pleasure, of a rare variety. But a man has to eat sometimes, so I press Pause, grab something quick, and run right back downstairs to my music room, food in hand. Demonstration grade! George Witterschein, editor, NJ Audio Society monthly magazine
