The booklet contained notes for Mahler's fifth symphony. Fortunately the CDs contained his ninth symphony which was what I purchased. The sound is fine on my high-end system.

Well this is most welcome, especially for those listeners who are already Wyn Morris fans. For others less steeped in this kind of Mahler, I venture to say people are in for a real treat. Morris was undoubtedly one of the very persuasive, eloquent Mahler conductors .... certainly of his generation. This ninth symphony with the hand-picked Symphonica of London (a group comprised of some of the first chairs and associate first chairs across the several London orchestra?) is simply superb. Morris' pacing is unerring, even when he urges his players towards insights with substance that may often escape Mahler-ian literalists. Morris' Mahler readings always take wing in a palpable Wunderhorn ethos, with lots more heart than not. The musical canvas is always immense .... probably just as the composer wishes. After all, Mahler told Sibelius something like, a symphony must contain the whole world! In any case this ninth symphony reading has an abundance of commitment, and just flows out musically like a force of Nature entire. Bravo HDTT, and Thanks !!!
