Many musicians and listeners have been fascinated by the music accompanying noir films. The most prominent of these films, “Elevator To The Gallows,” was famously interpreted and played by Miles Davis. The ground-breaking music is brilliantly integral to the mood and message of the film. The analog tape here under discussion, Jazz Noir, is an homage to such films played by modern, world-class musicians utilizing piano, bass, drums, and trumpet. The music is gorgeous and at times haunting.
