Recorded in Hollywood at Capitol Studios in October 1957, Like Someone In Love captures Ella Fitzgerald at the absolute height of her vocal powers. Originally released on Verve Records and produced by Norman Granz, this classic collection frames her incomparable warmth, emotional depth, and peerless phrasing against lush, sweeping orchestral arrangements conducted by Frank DeVol.
Highlighted by the sensitive, poignant tenor saxophone solos of the legendary Stan Getz, the album stands as a breathtaking tribute to romance and the American songbook. These performances showcase an artist effortlessly connecting with the timeless sentiment of standard after standard, transforming familiar melodies into deeply personal emotional statements. From the swinging optimism of the title track to the delicate melancholy of ballads like "More Than You Know," Ella commands every arrangement with unmatched grace and crystalline vocal clarity, creating an essential journey through romance, longing, and peerless musicianship.

Components used for Transfer:
This transfer leverages precision analogue playback and mastering-grade digital conversion. The signal path begins with a modified Otari MX5050, fed through a Merrill Audio Master MX Tape Head Preamp. The analogue signal is converted via a Merging Hapi converter, synchronised to an Antelope Audio 10MX atomic clock for temporal accuracy. All components receive isolated power conditioning through a Shunyata Research Everest 8000 with Shunyata Sigma-X power cords, while grounding infrastructure utilises Shunyata ALTAIRA hubs to minimise noise floor and preserve sonic detail throughout the transfer chain.
