Beethoven Piano Concerto No 1 - Coriolan Overture - Fleisher piano - Szell Cleveland Orchestra
Needless to say the very high performance of both Fresher and Szell, the sound here is so rich and refined in comparison to the PCM44.1KHz. I can strongly recommend to listen to this file.
Wonderful recording and performance
Fleisher and Szell are just a wonderful combination, and this recording captures that magic. Clean and transparent recording- recommended!
Solid? No, brilliant!
This is a remarkable recording that I recommend be in the library of every serious classical music audiophile whose system can play high resolution files. Bob Witrak's mastering of the recording is another triumph from his studio. The recording is quiet, relaxed, well detailed, and throws a solid soundstage. But the dynamics really sold me. Fleischer and the various sections of the orchestra interleave sonically in perfect balance so that every detail, and Beethoven's intentions, emerge with perfect audibility. Should also mention the performance... It's an example of why the Fleisher/Szell collaboration is revered as the one to get for German repertoire concertos. Which is great here, because this particular concerto is a milestone. With it, Beethoven achieved full parity with Mozart, the first supreme master of the piano concerto. Remember that Mozart's concertos stunned Haydn into giving up on the genre. Not our Ludwig however; he went toe to toe with the Salzburg master, and came out at least even. Listen to this recording and hear all about it. Get this one, in DXD if you can play it, and exult!
