Best Recording of Shostakovich Cello-Sonata ever
Indeed, FIVE Stars For Sound. The including pdf-booklet is still with the Brahms trio, that is missing and not included any more. There is also no jpg-Cover Art.
Five Stars for Sound
The art work and liner notes that come with the download are different than what's shown on this page. They indicate that the recording also includes a Brahms trio recording, but the download only actually contains the Shostakovich recordings. Sloppy.
Why isn't the Brahms trio mentioned?
Besides the Shostakovich, this recording also includes the Brahms C Minor trio with Gray Graffman, Shirley Trepel, and Berl Senofsky. In my opinion, that is what makes this disc worthwhile. But why aren't thy mentioned here? This performance, made by RCA in the early '60's, is also available on the Gary Graffman collection put out by Sony.
