Most people likely do not associate Ormandy with the music of Bruckner, but this is an excellent, well-judged performance, superbly played by the peerless Philadelphians. It deserves to be heard by all Brucknerians.
A solid and engaging performance captured with a great recording and transfer. The DSD256 version is outstanding!
Very good, Thank you.
Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra is one of my favourite historical combinations. This is another excellent remastering.
Although the sound quality does not compete with modern 24/96 PCM recordings, Ormandy/Philly performed this work nearly as well as anyone, combining a clear long-term structure with a wealth of unforced detail. This transfer sounds less harsh than the original Columbia LPs.
